Dear BJKM Parents and Guardians,
The first day of school is quickly approaching and there is great anticipation and excitement in the air! Many of you have spent many hours over the summer months helping us prepare for the beginning of this very special school year! A thank you to everyone who helped in any way! A warm welcome to all students from St. Francis School and new students who join with the students from Lovers Lane and Rosemont campuses to form BJKM Central Elementary!!
The following are dates and information that will be helpful to you as you prepare for the opening of school.
Tuesday, August 24th New Student Orientation- 9:30 am – 11:00 am.
Come to see your classroom and have some questions answered about starting off the new year. You may want to drop off your school supplies. It is held in the church auditorium.
Wednesday, August 25th First Day of School for grades K – 6
Students report to the church auditorium each morning. Doors for “before school care” open at 7:30 a.m. everyday. Parents are asked to pull up to the doors and allow the students to enter. Please do not park and walk the children in. (For the first week, younger children may be walked in by parents. We understand!) Teachers and teacher aides will be present to help students find their tables and to reassure them.
Monday, August 29th “After School Care” begins. ASC is available from 3:00 pm – 5:15 pm and is designed for working parents. Pick up each day is in the Annex, Mrs. Jackson’s room; 1B. Please call the office for a brochure, further details and prices.
Kindergarten News
Kindergarten students will follow a modified schedule for the first week to allow for the normal adjustments that come with moving into a full day schedule.
Wednesday, August 24th Orientation Meeting at 10 a m in the Kindergarten classrooms of the Convent. Kindergarten students start at 10 am that day.
Thursday/Friday, Aug. 25-26 Noon Dismissal from school for K.
Monday, August 30 Begin normal full day schedule
Watch for a separate letter from Mrs. Moffat and Mrs. Neary.
Pre -Kindergarten Program
The morning program is 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
The Afternoon program is Noon – 3:00 p.m.
Each session is designed by age.

A letter with additional information will be sent.
Please note that pre K afternoon pick-up is fifteen (15) minutes after K-6 dismissal. This is designed to avoid the heavier dismissal traffic.
Hot Lunch Program
Hot lunch is provided by Piergallini Catering on Monday – Thursday. Cost will be $3.50 per meal including an entrée, side, fruit and vegetable. A bowl of fruit and some peanut butter sandwiches will be available to student each day for a minimal cost and does not require pre-ordering. Milk tickets are sold each Monday for $1.00. One ticket provides 5 milk servings. Put money in an envelope with student’s name and homeroom number.
Tuesday, September 7th Hot Lunch Program begins
Pizza lunch fundraiser
Each Friday, beginning September 10th, Home and School Association sells pizza at lunch for $1.00 per slice. In addition, healthy snacks and drinks will be available for sale. Please send cash in a marked envelope with student name. Please do not send checks or large bills. The office usually does not have cash to make change. Volunteers are needed to help work one Friday per month.
Home and School Association
The Home and School Association is an important vehicle providing services to our students and school family. This year’s officers have been working hard all summer to plan events. You are encouraged to get involved and to participate in our committees and attend our evening parent meetings.

Mark Thursday, September 2nd on your calendar for a BJKM Information Expo being held from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the church auditorium. Come to any table to learn about BJKM school organizations and obtain information. There may be some that you want to sign up to join. Please get involved. Boosters, Market Day, Scrip sign up, Homeroom Mothers, Pizza Lunch, Social Committee, Fundraising Committee, Grant Writing Team, and more. (sponsored by Home and School Association)

This year is already underway with girls’ basketball teams being selected and practices soon to begin. Please consider helping out especially if you are a 5th or 6th grade parent or guardian.

Treasurer reminder - $100 Family fee are past due. Tuition payments are due.
No student may begin the new school year with a tuition balance from the prior year.
